Save9

Project Description
Save9 aims to prototype the simultaneous broadcast delivery of web-links within and/or alongside BBC programmes. In theory this service will permit the development of exciting web-based interactive applications – in particular reactive and rich graphical user interfaces in connection with any digital BBC programme material currently being viewed. To encourage mass-viewer interaction with BBC programmes our prototype will initially focus on the MyBBC Player application so that multiple synchronous hyper-link topics can be quickly set-up by interested third parties. A single BBC programme may have separate third-party driven ‘Sync-links’, embedded in a time-line; for Actors, Scenes, Story-lines, Objects, Places, History, Costumes and Music (examples only). The availability of non-BBC originated Sync-links to on-demand viewers is dependent upon interested online communities who are capable of creating/sharing/publicising their Sync-links with others. Consideration of open standards that may be applied to Synchronous Hyper-linking will also be covered by our prototype.
