Project Description
The project has two simple aims:
1.To define a URL schema to identify a point or a segment within a media stream and build a prototype server to demonstrate this in action. This would allow links to a particular interview within a news program, an article in a magazine program or an specific event in a soap opera.
2.To build a repository for user to store and publish and annotate these media links. This would allow users to build up a categorized library of such links. Annotation (Tagging) of the links of the links would facilitate searches (e.g. find similar clips). Clips could also be grouped together to form new media “mixes” or digests which others could then view as a single new “program”. Allowing reverse lookups on this database would also be able to return tagging information about the stream for others when they view it allowing media players to search for related information to show to the viewer.
