2007: Partners

The Innovation Labs project is a collaboration between the BBC and a range of regional partners working with us as co-funders or delivery partners. This year, we're also supported by NESTA, the National Endowment for Arts, Technology and the Sciences, who will be providing business growth and investment advices for all attendees at the Innovation Labs in Feb/March 2007.

Based in Leeds, Screen Yorkshire is the regional screen agency - the gateway to the best in film, broadcast and interactive media in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Screen Yorkshire’s mission is to inspire, promote and support the development of a successful and sustainable film, broadcast and interactive media sector, helping to grow the economic, social and cultural wealth of the region. Following a successful bid to Yorkshire Forward for £10.2 million, Screen Yorkshire will be launching a multi-platform content development fund as part of its new four year programme to make sure that regional companies create and exploit the latest innovative ideas across all media platforms. Since 2002, Codeworks and One Northeast have been working together to drive innovation and economic growth in the digital industries of North East England. Codeworks achieves its aims by focusing on three key projects: Codeworks Connect, Codeworks GameHorizon and Digital Media Technologies. With offices in Teesside, Sunderland and Newcastle, we are working to develop the best technologies, digital businesses and entrepreneurs in our region. By creating new businesses, new jobs and new investment, Codeworks and One Northeast have delivered more than £50 million in economic impact for the North East digital industries.

EM Media, the regional screen agency for the East Midlands, is supported by the UK Film Council and East Midlands Development Agency (emda). Its mission is to place media at the heart of the creative economy of the East Midlands.

EM Media raises and distributes finance from a range of sources. It distributes Treasury and Lottery on behalf of the UK Film Council and invests European Regional Development Funds in a range of projects and programmes which link film and media products with the national and international market place.

EM Media can invest in the following:

· Product development for a range of platforms (including script development, games development, slate development )
· Research and development (product to market place)
· Business services and support
· Individual skills development
· Company skills development
· Audience and market development

South England Lab

Screen East is the Regional Screen Agency for the East of England dedicated to developing a thriving film, TV and digital media industry. The agency is a delegated lottery distributor of the UK Film Council, and has recently been awarded £2m from the European Regional Development Fund to invest in new production projects. Screen East is supporting the establishment of a business support network for the computer games industry in the Eastern region working with the East of England Development Agency. www.screeneast.co.uk

South West Screen is the film, television and digital media agency for the South West of England. Our main areas of work are business support, locations, creative development, exhibition, training, education and funding.

Digital Central is a £1.5m project that is the key delivery vehicle for economic growth within the West Midlands’ Screen, Image and Sound Business Cluster. The project is aimed at supporting television, film, video, animation, interactive media, computer games, music, radio and digital imaging businesses. The project represents a major collaboration between the regional development agency, Advantage West Midlands, the private sector and higher education. Digital Central aims to be a driver for growth through the delivery of research, knowledge and innovation for the music and digital media sector.

South East Media Network is a business led consortium providing strategic focus for the regions digital content sector, it exists to enable the South East of England's digital content businesses increase their share of the global market.

SEMN provides two way communications between businesses, policy makers and support organisations. It informs local, regional and national strategies and drives improvement in business performance. SEMN engages with organisations and key stake holders from across the supply chain to ensure that support for digital content businesses is integrated and easy to access. SEMN is backed by the South East England's Development Agency.
