Great round-up of new web services
I'll try to avoid using the 'web2.0' buzz-word, but there's a great round-up on Don Hinchcliffe's blog of the best new web services of 2005. The ability to mash-up different data sources and platforms has created a bewildering, though entertaining, range of new services. We're starting to see similar ideas emerge in the applications to the Innovation Labs.
Its worth looking at this list, not only to find out some neat programming and service innovations, but also because Don has grouped them into some of the dominant service themes that have emerged this year, including Social Bookmarking, Start Pages, Peer Production News and Grassroots use of Web2.0. This isn't a definitive list, and I'm sure some of these services will find no audience, whilst other new ones will become wildfire hits, but its a useful checklist of the kind of things people are starting to do with the open standards and collaborative models that are emerging online.
