Fresh and Personal
I have made this mock design because I am interested in websites and the BBC. The BBC's website is pretty good however I feel that it is missing a few modules. For example, there is no clear way of telling what is on television or radio when you are viewing the home page. As the BBC is orientated round Media, I feel this is a vital part missing from the Home Page.
I am not saying that my design is a massive improvement or even an improvement at all! I am simply saying some of the ideas that I have made and the layout could work.
I have named the site- your BBC; simply because that is what it should be. The site should be clear and easy to navigate with most features on the site being able to personalise in either colour or other form.
The colours on my site will be able to be changed according to the viewer's preferences. I have chosen cool colours and subtlety placed the BBC logo in the background to show that the BBC are proud. Even though this logo is faded in the background, it is not in your face.
At the top of my page is the new bright search bar and below the option to choose a version- UK/ International. Below this is the option to choose the Television orientated site or Radio orientated site.
Below this is the listing for a channel which can be selected using the scroll bar on the left hand side. This section also adds key information about a programme on air. This can link to the channel homepage or the programme site. On the very right of the page is key information starting with BBC's best facility- BBC News. This is constantly updated throughout the day to show the top headlines. Below this is the Weather and I have used the moving weather symbols to animate the site and add motion- the weather part also gives an average temperature which is clear instead over min/max. Below the weather is the Sport which will be updated like the News and below the Sport is the Travel. Underneath the travel is the Radio Link and shows who is on air at the moment. Below the Radio section is a Children section liking to CBBC and CBeebies.
Under the Television information could be an advert for a Drama such as 'New Street Law'
Under the advertisement space is another feature to advertise a facility such as Bitesize. This will attract more people and tell people about the facility.
Under the facility space are options for the 'My BBC account.' This includes options to change the colour, change the logo style/era. This personalises the website even more- for example if somebody grew up in the 1960's, they could choose the BBC 60's logo! From the options point they can also change the layout and enable parent settings.
Although all the BBC sites are suitable for all ages- a parent may want to stop their child from visiting a certain site on the BBC- for example CBBC Games. This facility would have to be password encoded.
To the left of the option space is a space to add reminders. This space can be used to remind people of all sorts of things. To the left of this space is a facility that shows 'my recently viewed BBC Pages.' This facility allows a person to visit a site quickly from this point.
To the left of this facility is a Radio Scroll facility that allows extra information or a link to the Radio site- just like the television scroll links.
Under the option facility is the Browse box which provides quick links to various BBC Sites.
Overall I think my website personalises the BBC website to the maximum by changing the logo style, changing the colour, changing the layout, reminding the surfer of the recently viewed website, setting reminders and much more.
Please remember to look at the potential in the ideas and concepts instead of the design.
Thank-you.

A little bit amateurish, the colors are a little off-putting..
