My BBC
I thought that by calling the page 'My BBC', it provided a more welcoming and personal image. I have created a personalised page, where people are able to log in and select the content which is shown on the page. It is uncluttered, and easily readable and accessible, and font size is not too small.
I feel the Browse function on the current BBC page is unneccessary and takes up a lot of space. Instead I have included a search facility, which could possibly expand into this, when clicked.
The 'news' section will automatically be on the personalised page, although this can be removed. Also there is an option to choose the type of news that is displayed, for example Entertainment or Sport, as some users are not interested in some sections.
There is a section displaying all the television channels, with links to these channels, and showing what is currently on these channels. This is a quick way of finding out what is on and all in one place. I have also included a 'Programme Planner', so people can plan their prime time viewing. I believe this would be an excellent tool and would help internet users plan their evening's television.
I have also introduced a 'My Pages' section, so that internet users are able to visit the pages on the BBC site and can save them in one place so that it is easy to come back to them or send them to others just by signing in to 'My BBC'. Also by logging in to this page, it is able to display the name of the internet user at the top of the page giving a more friendly image.
The 'local area' section remains, as users are able to select their own areas to find out what is happening in their area and weather forecasts for their area.
Extra content includes horoscopes, games, calendar, calculator, message boards and music charts, as well as an option to watch programmes online, in order to cater for all types of users, young and old.
To improve the page, the adverts would be removed (which are only on the page due to the hosting service). I would also fit the page in with the BBC's corporate image, so that it looks professional, while still retaining its personal look with custom backgrounds.

Sorry, but it doesn't look that good or professional.
