My very own BBC

Jenny

What I'd propose for the new BBC.CO.UK is a modular personalised BBC website. The regular user, in this case a hypothetical user "Jenny", can choose to bring together all the information she's interested in in one place:

- All her favourite BBC pages can be saved as bookmarks, and she can choose to save some as tabs, in the header of the page, for easy quick access.
- The personalised TV and Radio listing gives the schedules of her favourite shows.
- The News brings all the news Jenny's interested in (for example Science, Technology, World news...).
- The podcast listing always offers new podcasts to download according to predefined interests (Music/Radio shows/comedy...)
- The E-mail is linked to Jenny's inbox so she can always check her mail on the internet through the BBC.
- The Chat section always sees if any of Jenny's friends are online and available for a chat.

Jenny's BBC also always suggests new links/downloads/shows/extras/... that might be of Jenny's interest. In addition, some custom-made content specific to the user's preferences would be made available. So that she can always discover new things.

The search sections can now search directly in the BBC podcast directory and archives. I've also introduced a direct search through Google, Wikipedia or the dictionary.

What I find is lacking in the present BBC, is a live info check on what's on TV and radio at the present moment on the main homepage. So I've introduced a Live schedule bar that rotates the info between the different channels.

The middle part is for promoting TV or Radio shows with short extracts, or to watch a BBC archive footage.

Enjoy!
