Streamlined Portal
Rather than shove a load of information in your face like the homepage now, I would love to see the user searching for what they want, rather than that being suggested (at least in the beginning).
I mean, if you clicked on the radio button you wouldn't want to see something advertising a TV show.
I made this, for one reason anyway, because I don't see why the sport section is the same as the main worldwide headline section - when sport is just a game.
If I had the time and/or money...well I might slightly change the very simple portal to a column layout. I would have three (or more) colour coded columns (a lot like the BBC teens page) that contain the relevant links and content. Of course, the homepage should not contain the most information, it should be the introduction to the site, and the main 'hub' if you like.

Brilliant! There's even a scrolling news ticket - -tag ahoy!
There can never be enough pictures of old gramophone players on the web IMHO
i suppose in retrospect the gramaphone wasnt such a good idea (it plays records not radio!) but i suppose its just an illustration and gets the point across!
is that a microwave?
err, cute, but it does rather fly in the face of the concept of "convergence" doesn't it?
I mean, where do you put podcasts?
arent podcasts a web product...at no point in downloading a podcast your i-flavoured media player is there a readio involved...or is there? i'm a bit thick for these sort of things...weird cos i'm 16 and supposedly in the 'tech-savvy' generation!
