Web Service BBC Homepage
I have designed a version of the BBC Homepage that could be like Netvibes, essentially the place you would set as "home" on your browser.
The page could be customisable by the user and have as many or as few features and information as the user would like.
Incorporation of the popular services such as Flickr for Photoblogging, etc. All gear to improving the participatory nature of the BBC sites and services.
Like Newsvine (newsvine.com) it would be great if users could contribute to and comment on content.
I like sites to be both visually appealing and usable so it would have to taken into account the best "patterns" found on the web.
I have done a brief annotation of my ideas here:

I like this, I can imagine all of the panels being easily moveable and customised! - the design is fresh and easy to read too!
I like what you've done with the BBC logo, and the dynamic weather image is a good idea!
Wow... I really like this one, primarily because of its functional scope, but the design/layout is very user-friendly and easy to understand. A little more creativity with the web 2.0 API's out there might have pushed this to the top of my list.
COOL! Like it! I think you have hit the nail on the head with this one.
Alex, I think that too many of the 2.0 services would be overkill.
How long did this take? Have you coded it or just done a graphic?
Thanks for the kind words. If I am honest I am not sure how much of what I have done the BBC could actually do but it would cool if they could.
I think if I were starting again I would simplify it a bit but keep the general look and feel but anyway I have submitted now. :-)
A good design, although I think some of the buttons and icons look a bit out of place.
Well done, another person whos tried to do something a little different, you are the exception tho' Ive gone thru the gallery just now and all ive seen are gaudy attempts at laying out the beeb site. I cant design myself but I know what I like and Ive seen about 4 decent designs so far..
